Board Room, Not Bored Room: Making the Most of Meetings
Tuesday, May 1, 2012
11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
National Board of Chiropractic Examiners
Horace C. Elliott Center
909 54th Avenue, Greeley
Board meetings tend to take on a somewhat ritualistic format consisting of reading and approving various accounts of things that have already happened, starting with the minutes of last month’s meeting. It’s important to make sure that the records and statements are accurate, of course, but we can spend so much time discussing reports—from the executive director, from the treasurer, from various and sundry committees—that we leave feeling like nothing much was accomplished, at least in the board meeting. Your board can have productive meetings, where important decisions are made by a fully engaged group of directors, if you are open to trying something new. From consent agendas to dashboards to Roberta’s Rules of Order—we’ll explore innovative ways to liberate your board meeting from the shackles of the past and open up time in the agenda for learning, healthy debate and strategic decision-making.
This is a brown bag lunch; drinks and light refreshments will be provided.
